Ceph
just rocks.

Ceph is an open-source distributed object store. It runs on commodity hardware providing a fault tolerant and self-healing storage platform.

More

about Ceph.

Ceph provides your applications with object, block, and file system storage in a single unified storage cluster. Making Ceph flexible, highly reliable and easy for you to manage. Ceph’s CRUSH algorithm liberates storage clusters from the scalability and performance limitations imposed by centralized data table mapping.

At 42on we have over 10 years of Ceph experience and contributed many features and bug fixes to Ceph and the eco-system around it. Our main person are Wout van Heeswijk and Wido den Hollander who have extensive experience with building and running Ceph clusters for businesses, organizations and government agencies. These range from Terabytes into the Petabytes.

Types
of storage.

Object storage is at the heart of Ceph. You can store millions of objects through language bindings for C, C++, Python, PHP and Java or use the S3 compatible REST gateway.

Based on the Object storage of Ceph it provides a fully distributed Block Device with integration inti Qemu (KVM), libvirt, CloudStack and OpenStack.

A fully distributed POSIX-compliant file system striped over replicated objects in the Ceph cluster. You can store large amounts of data and scale when needed.
