More

about Ceph.

Ceph is an open-source distributed object store. It runs on commodity hardware providing a fault tolerant and self-healing storage platform. With Object, Block and File storage it truly is a unified storage platform without a vendor lock-in.

At 42on we have over 5 years of Ceph experience and contributed many features and bug fixes to Ceph and the eco-system around it. Our main person is Wido den Hollander who has extensive experience with building and running Ceph clusters for businesses, organizations and government agencies. These range from Terabytes into the Petabytes.

Types
of storage.

Object storage is at the heart of Ceph. You can store millions of objects through language bindings for C, C++, Python, PHP and Java or use the S3 compatible REST gateway.

Based on the Object storage of Ceph it provides a fully distributed Block Device with integration inti Qemu (KVM), libvirt, CloudStack and OpenStack.

A fully distributed POSIX-compliant file system striped over replicated objects in the Ceph cluster. You can store large amounts of data and scale when needed.
